It's All HereDec 08, 2002
For fans of the great adventurer Miles Davis' music, this book is visual witness to the constant creativity of his music. He paints and draws in the way that he played-elegant, mysterious and sensuous. At other times, quick and skittering. The paintings are that, too. Layers of his solo imagination appear, curving, colorful, playful. They are painted. Tricks of musical fantasy, dual personalities, remembrances and hints are on the canvases. The bold strokes of his genius are displayed. Miles Davis was a never-ending surprise on the stage. He was intense, serious. He led music past the boundaries known and into so many new places in the heart, mind and soul. The textures and rhythms of the quest he led are captured in his art. This oversized, paperback art book (originally published in 1991, the year he died) is long out of print. It has become rare and precious. Highly recommended for all who want to "see" what he saw and painted...and played.
